Our innovative aerosol primer for plastics is an advanced solution, designed to perfectly prepare surfaces before applying layers of paint or other protective coatings. This high quality product is designed to provide effective protection and durability, while facilitating the process of painting and protecting a variety of plastic parts.
Our primer has excellent adhesion, which makes it adhere perfectly to the surface of plastics, creating a solid base for subsequent layers of paint. The aerosol formula allows for easy and even application of the primer, eliminating the risk of unsightly streaks or runs. This allows you to achieve professional results even without specialised painting equipment.
Using a plastic primer before painting plastic parts is crucial for several important reasons:
- Adhesion (adhesion): Plastics, such as ABS or polyethylene, can have a smooth, non-reactive surface, which can make it difficult for paint to adhere to them. Primer for plastics contains ingredients that increase adhesion, i.e. the adhesion of the paint to the plastic surface.
- Colour stabilisation: Some plastics can react with the chemical components in the paint, which can lead to colour changes or unpredictable effects. A primer for plastics can act as a barrier, preventing such effects.
- Reduces the risk of cracking and peeling of the topcoat: Plastics, by virtue of their lower rigidity compared to metal components, have a greater tendency to develop vibrations, overloads on their surface. The primer for plastics, by providing optimum adherence and greater flexibility, reduces the risk of damage (the use of the primer does not replace the use of the elasticity additive T4W AE100 when painting the most sensitive components).
Key features:
- Quick-drying product
- Improves adhesion of acrylic and polyurethane products to plastic surfaces
- Precise and even application by using the professional rotary nozzle
- Easy to use and very efficient
Application method:
- The surface to be painted should be clean and dry, a silicone remover may be required to degrease the surface.
- Remember to protect adjacent parts with masking tape MTE80 or a special adhering anti-static film with T4W-TM tape.
- Before use, the aerosol can should be shaken vigorously for 1-2 minutes to thoroughly mix the primer. If the spray can has been stored in cold conditions it may be necessary to warm it up e.g. in warm water so that the temperature inside is approx. 20-25°C. This will ensure an even application of the primer. This will ensure an even application and the nozzle will not "splash".
- Apply the primer from a distance of about 30cm, applying 1-2 coats, allowing 2-3 minutes for evaporation (depending on conditions at the application site)
Apply subsequent products 20-30 minutes after the last coat of primer has been applied to the plastic
Directions:
- Always test on a test surface before application
- When you have finished, turn the can upside down and press the valve for a few seconds. This will clean the nozzle and valve of any paint residue and you will be able to enjoy the colour to the end of the can without the nozzle drying out.
- The thinner the layers of paint, the better. It is always better to apply an extra layer than to risk streaks.
- Take your time and let each layer evaporate, as applying successive coats too quickly risks paint defects such as peeling or streaks.
- Remember that the ambient temperature plays an important role: If it is higher than 25 degrees Celsius or lower than 15 degrees Celsius, the drying time must be taken into account.
- Never paint in direct sunlight or in hot weather.
- Remember that the thickness of the coating and the humidity also affect the evaporation of subsequent coats!
- The primer should not be used on PE or PTFE surfaces.
